Cosmetic packaging is not only about aesthetics, but also functionality. In general, a cosmetic packaging consists of several components, which play a crucial role in maintaining the ingredients. Furthermore, a post-processed packaging component will also attract customers’ attention. Let's discuss several examples of packaging components.
1. Plastic bottle and pump/ cap
a. A bottle becomes a container to keep the chemical liquid.
b. A closure/ lid of the bottle can be either a pump or a cap. A pump with pipe is used to dispense a controlled liquid quantity and prevent wastage. Meanwhile, a cap will seal the bottle and prevent the product from contaminants.
2. Lip gloss container
a. A bottle is used to store the chemical liquid.
b. A cap will securely seal the lip gloss container.
c. A wiper, located at the opening of the bottle (bottle’s neck), regulates the amount of lip gloss liquid on the applicator.
d. A tip/ applicator is the part of the wand (stem) that is used for applying lip gloss.
3. Lipstick container
a. A bottle is the main container that holds the solid lipstick in place.
b. A bottle neck has a twisting mechanism that allows the user to extend and retract the lipstick.
c. A cap is designed to cover and protect the exposed part of the lipstick when it is not in use.
4. Cream jar
a. A jar and a cap will protect the chemical cream from external contaminants.
b. PP (Polypropylene foam) and PE (Polyethylene) Foam to increase the product protection and prevent leaks.

b. A cap is designed to be easily opened and closed by the user.
c. An aluminum foil (seal) acts as tamper evidence that indicates the product has never been previously opened.
6. Serum container
a. A bottle is the primary container that keeps the serum and protects it from light, air, and contaminants.
b. A dropper cap will seal the bottle tightly when not in use.
c. A rubber tip and a plastic pipette are used to control over the amount of serum dispensed. This is crucial since serum is typically highly concentrated and only required a small amount per application.
7. Eyeliner container
An eyeliner container typically consists of several key components, such as:
a. A metal ball helps mix the ingredients evenly when the container is shaken.

d. A bottle serves as the main storage for the eyeliner products and protects the formula from external contaminants.
e. A cap/lid seals the container, preventing the eyeliner from drying out or spilling.
f. A brush/ an applicator is used to apply the eyeliner.
8. Powder container
a. A container is the storage that holds the powder products.
b. A cap covers and seals the container to protect the powder from exposure to air, moisture and contaminants.
c. A separator (sifter) is to prevent excess product from being released at once.
9. Mascara container
a. A bottle is the main body that holds the mascara formula.
b. A cap serves as both a closure for the bottle and handle for the brush. It screws onto the bottle securely to prevent the mascara from drying out or leaking.
c. A brush is the applicator attached to the cap that used to apply the mascara to the eyelashes.
